About Lee Huestis

Lee Huestis for House District 9

A little about myself

I was born and raised in Havre, Montana, and spent my formative years working the family farm. I moved to Bozeman to go to school and there met Lori Hollister, who I married in 1994. In 1997, I was diagnosed with agressive esophageal cancer and underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Although the doctors feared we would never be able to have kids because of the treatment, our daughter Madison was born in 1998. My cancer fully in remission, I went back to school and earned a degree in Math with a secondary teaching certification. I took a job at Flathead High School in Kalispell teaching high school math, and have been there for 20 years. We were happy to settle in Kalispell since Lori's family has lived in the Flathead Valley for six generations. My son Maverick was born here in 2005. Previous careers were in real estate and restaurant management. My cancer returned in 2018 and again, with some rigorous treatment, I sent it into remission for a second time. Kalispell is our home and we love this community. I am an avid camper and golfer and enjoy the time I can spend in Montana's public lands around this beautiful place. I am actively involved in Canvas Church and, by God's grace, live my Christian faith daily.
Some issues that are particularly important to me include:
  • Safety and security
  • Economic opportunities
  • Protecting Montana's heritage
